Wakil Ketua Majelis Permusyawaratan Rakyat Republik Indonesia Eddy Soeparno menjadi pembicara kunci (keynote speaker) dalam sesi diskusi di COP29, Baku, Azerbaijan, dengan tema “Driving the Renewable Revolution: Unleashing Indonesia’s Renewable Energy Ambition”.
Dalam pidatonya, Eddy menjelaskan tentang target pemerintahan Presiden Prabowo Subianto untuk mencapai pertumbuhan ekonomi mencapai 8%. Target ini, menurut Eddy, akan membutuhkan suplai energi yang besar.
“Di sisi lain, suplai energi di Indonesia selama ini didominasi energi fosil. Pada tahun 2024 ini hanya 13,9 persen bauran energi terbarukan. Padahal Indonesia memiliki potensi energi terbarukan hingga 3.700 GW,” kata Eddy. “Karena itu dibutuhkan akselerasi transisi energi agar bauran energi terbarukan di Indonesia semakin besar dan berdampak pada udara yang lebih bersih dan bebas polusi,” lanjutnya.
Di sisi lain, masih ada tantangan yang harus dihadapi dalam pengembangan energi terbarukan di antaranya adalah dari sisi regulasi, investasi sampai dengan teknologi.
“Karena itu kami di Komisi VII dan ketika di Komisi XII DPR RI saat ini terus mendorong Rancangan Undang-Undang Energi Baru dan Terbarukan (EBT). Begitu juga tantangan dalam investasi yang besar dan juga inovasi serta teknologi bidang energi terbarukan yang masih harus dikembangkan,” ungkapnya.
Dalam kesempatan itu, Eddy juga menyampaikan komitmen Prabowo untuk mewujudkan ketahanan energi di Indonesia.
“Kami melihat bahwa tema besar di dalam COP ini sejalan dengan program Presiden Prabowo, yaitu pertama untuk meningkatkan ketahanan energi Indonesia, kedua untuk melaksanakan pembangunan yang berkelanjutan, yaitu dengan tetap memegang teguh asas energi berkelanjutan, energi baru terbarukan, untuk mendukung program pembangunan kita yang bertargetkan tingkat pertumbuhan yang tinggi,” katanya.
